Well, it doesn't look good. Despite our best efforts, it looks like
we're going to have to restore the moira database from backups made
Sunday morning. Restoring from backups and running the journal will
likely take until sometime tomorrow evening, or Wednesday morning at the
latest. So, at this point it looks like Moira will be out of service
all day tomorrow, and possibly tomorrow night as well.
I apologize for the inconvenience; but unfortunately, there doesn't seem
to be any other recourse at this point. I've tried a number of
different tacks, but I haven't been able to get around the problem.
The cause of the moira database corruption seems to be related to a
database deadlock/lockup that we had later that Sunday morning. The
reason deadlock, and for the resulting corruption is not clear, but it
does not seem to be related to the errant /moira/bin/sign process, as I
had earlier speculated. (That was just responsible for taking out
Kerberos earlier this morning).
As I get more information, I will keep you all posted. Thank you in
advance for your patience....
