Hi all,
haven't had to send you mail in quite a while...
Our decstation RENOIR (in 9-513) has had a problem. Its keyboard no
longer works, preventing it from booting. Because the machine is a
file server, we felt free to move a keyboard from SAARINEN in the Garden
to renoir to make it run. Saarinen now does not boot, so the problem is
definitely in the keyboard.
Renoir boots, but in the hardware level startup stuff it reports a
message like:
...
scc0 at ibus3
fd internal driver error: FDI PROBE FAIL (A,11)
FD0 NOT PROBED
...
I assume that means the floppy drive has also failed. Since it's a file
server, I don't particularly care but I thought you should know. Since
the file server is critical to daily operations, I'm reluctant to bring
it down for a floppy switcheroo without lots of advance planning.
So the thing that needs fixing for real is Saarinen's keyboard.
Saarinen is next to the double doors of 9-550 nearest the elevators.
Thanks!
Rob
