HP IV printer "stowe" has problems

Hi. I'm the nominally responsible person for the HP IV printer in a
private Athena cluster here in E25-143/7. The printer is "stowe", and
the problem is that sheets are coming out with a light smear of toner
all along the right edge, and that sometimes the smear is a "shadow"
of text that appears about 4 inches higher on the page.
