I don't recall saying there was a repeater problem. I did promise
to keep an eye on barrett-1.mit.edu . My tests this morning
showed that there was no evidence of any packet loss to that
workstation. I'll check it through the day.

   Hi Ed-

Lou Isgur will be trying to get in touch with you to
come over and check out your system. He can be reached
at either 3-1410 or 3-0024 or e-mail (larugsi).

I had received Ed's message late in the day on 11/8. I had tried to call Ed
back, but no answer. Today Ed told me that he had left for the day yesterday
because he could not get any work done since noon time because his system was
down. Ed's system, and the Sun next door (Jim Parady) are both having this
problem. I have investigated the problem, and it appears that both these
machines are losing contact with the VOLUME server, (pertaining to a network
problem). I have contacted 8400 and spoke with Ron Hoffmann regarding this
issue. It may be a problem with one of the repeaters. I have asked Ron to keep
us (hotline) updated on any findings.
