Subject: pollux: serviced
Date: Fri, 22 Oct 93 10:51:20 EDT
From: Darrin E. Robinson <darrin@MIT.EDU>

Pollux was serviced between 8:30am and 10;30am (two hours downtime) to
attempt to repair drive 1 (RA82). The diagnostics found nothing, but
the drive did fail when we walked away. Bill checked the previous errors
and they were LED code (4E and 26) which pointed to a hybrid (micro/servo)
board problem. A new board was sent over and DEC is at this moment
installing it. Bill will run micro-diagnostics on the disk over the
weekend to make sure that the replaced board was indeed the problem. I
brought the system back up for users. The system will need to be rebooted
(after uncommenting /dev/ra1b in fstab) to get the drive back on-line.
