Hi Everyone...sorry I forgot to send mail about this yesterday.
1) 'helios' is the backup "sun install server". (The primary one is
'solar'.) Solar is located in the e40-008 machine rooom, and
fortunately it is working fine. Helios is in my office; when Miki
gets back from Sweden, it will probably go back to her office.
2) Helios hasn't been working recently for unknown reasons. It needed
to have its software updated (to match what is on solar) anyway, so
yesterday Brian and I were working on reinstalling it....this failed,
again for unknown reasons.
3) Here's what we're going to do for helios:
- today, change its cluster info to public-sun (from beta-sun)
- tomorrow, reinstall software on it
after reinstallation, there needs to be about 20Mb free
on /var in order to configure the "install server" stuff;
if there's not enough room, Brian will ask Mark Virtue
for some help in deciding the best way to deal with this;
- after successful installing of the basic Athena workstation
software, install the "install server" stuff (following the
instructions in /mit/bootkit/netboot/solaris/README
- test it, then ask Cluster Support to test it.
