Let's try walking Bruce Cole thru a few things to see if
we can get the printer and workstation fixed from here.
I called him this afternoon but he had left already. Can someone
try contacting him tomorrow morning?
Here's what I was going to have him try:
- boot quahog single user. Execute rc.net to bring
up the network. Try setting time by hand,
/etc/athena/gettime -s kerberos.mit.edu
see if gettime returns any useful information.
- determining the problem with the printer (hostname is
scup, printer name is scallop) is a little more complicated.
First, the printer doesn't respond to ping. Traceroute makes
it to broad-gw. In looking at the other machines down there
it looks as though the next hop after broad-gw is the host.
Second, we can't get in on the print server because inetd.conf
is hosed.
I'd suggest talking Bruce Cole thru an edit of inetd.conf for the print
server and take things from there.
