Hi. I'm manager of a private Athena cluster in E25-143/7. As well as 6
Athena DECs, we have a Macintosh and a SUN Sparc on the AI net here in
the cluster. We just got a new HP 4si printer that replaced an old
LN03. Both were called "stowe".
With the old printer we could print to it from all computers; the Mac
is hooked to Apple/Ethertalk and the AI sun somehow sent jobs to
E25-147-P.MIT.EDU (the old server of stowe).
John Chase helped me set the printer up, and he explained that we
could hook it to the Mac if we wanted just by enabling the Novell
config option, but we decided to wait.
But he wasn't sure what to do about the AI connection; do you know
about that at all? On the SELF TEST sheet, it says that the "SYSLOG
SERVER" is 18.172.0.67; is there a way to sent jobs to that server
like we used to send them to the other server?
Our goal for the cluster is to enable the nearby workstations to print
to the nearby printer, including the one AI sun.
Thanks for any advice,
Stephen Gilbert
