Since themis' {c,d} are now back online (after hardware repair), we're going
to try to recover the volumes that were on it when it dropped offline. I will
let you know tomorrow what we're able to recover. Basically, there are 20 user
volumes and 2 Xuser volumes involved, but we won't know until tomorrow how much
useful data is in the volumes. (These volumes were all in the process of being
moved to another server when the disk they were being moved _from_ dropped
offline, so they could be in practially any state of usefulness.)
Bringing these volumes back online is complicated, because they have the
same names as the volumes which the vldb (and thus the users) know about.
Tomorrow morning, I'm going to do some volume renaming, mountpoint changing,
and so on. These users should not notice anything, but for your information
these are the users whose volumes I'll be working with tomorrow morning:
bobbydod djull jbrouwer mitsfs
cova earendil jsol mjcima
cvtran fate kazu odkostas
dcoda fjpiard lorkovic radhi
dfwong janetp lrh yooncs
Whatever I'm able to recover, I will mount under
/afs/athena/service/restore/{username}.rst
and I'll send followup mail tomorrow letting you know what's there.
If anyone has any questions about this, please let me know. Thanks!
Anne
