xterm error on m16-034-8

I've tried logging on to the new m16-034-8 terminal, and each time there
was a problem with starting up xterms. The first time I tried logging in,
the initial xterm opened OK, but when I tried opening new xterms I'd get the
error message
Error 23, errno 22: Invalid argument.
Several days later, even the initial xterm wouldn't open up, and that
error message appeared in the console window.
I hope you can fix what's wrong. Thanks.
