Type: Normal
Date: May 7, 2013
Day: Tuesday
Time: 4:30am - 7:00am
Building(s): 2
Room(s): All
System: building power, lighting
Duration: 4:30am - 7:00am
Reason:
We require a bldg 2-all partial normal bldg power shutdown, 120V power fed off normal lighting secondary riser L7 power panels from 4:30 AM to 7 AM on Tuesday morning, May 7th, 2013. Bennett Electric (John Shaw 617-293-4806) needs to decouple a tap in the high voltage room in order to demo the primary L7 riser that fed most lighting and 120V power in the 2-north construction area as part of the bldg 2-Chemistry renovation project by Bond Brothers (Jesse Conklin 617-938-4175). Normal lighting on floors 1 thru 3 will be affected along with an array of very old office wall outlets. The 2-190 lecture hall will be affected in its entirety. Marty Deluga 4-5081 and Joe Collins 3-3621 are the MIT project managers.

Occupants of bldg 2 should turn off their computers on Monday evening May 6th as a precautionary measure especially if they're plugged into very old wall outlets. This includes all floors with an emphasis on the higher numbered offices under the ziggurat. If per chance an occupant has an unauthorized refrigerator; the more perishable items should probably be removed on Monday as well, just in case.

Effect:
Loss of building power, lighting for the duration of this shutdown.
