Now talk about convenience!
Installing a DS3100 has never been easier. It is no longer necessary to
notify Systems Support to have them update the BOOTP server so that you
can install a DS3100.
Just like the DS5000s can be net-installed without updating the BOOTP
server one can net-install DS3100s in the same manner.
Step (2) of "BEFORE software can be installed" of the DS3100 installation
instructions should be stricken.
Step (3) of "BEFORE software can be installed" of the DS3100 installation
instructions should be modified.
In step (3) of "The Actual Software Installation" of the DS3100 installation
instructions says...
3) After the boot server is configured and you've got the goahead
for the installation:
>> tftp() -a
(if all goes ok, after about 5 min, the
machine should start prompting for hostname,
etc.)
This is ammended to...
3) After you've got the goahead for the installation:
>> tftp()/athena-[subnet]-1 -a
where [subnet] is the subnet number that the
machine to be installed is located on. I.E.
/athena-172-1 would be specified for a machine
that's on net172.
(if all goes ok, after about 5 min, the
machine should start prompting for hostname,
etc.)
The installation instructions will be changed to reflect this "easy"
installation process.
