Dear Consultants,
I start to work with an AViiON 300 series from
Data General. As I need access to data that are
stored on some server in the athena network, I
would like to hook up the station to the MIT network.
Here is what I have:
the workstation with Unix and XTerm as stand-alone.
a hook-up with an ethernet cable to 'some outlet
in the wall' with: ETHERNET/IEEE 10 Base-T 10MBps Quad
Port UTP Transceiver (Canary UTP-4000)
Here is what I don't have:
Extensive experience with Unix
So my questions are:
am I all set with the hardware?
What files do I have to set up or modify,
to hook up the station?
Is there any printed guide available,
that steps me through the procedure, so
that I can do the hook-up myself?
Thanks a lot
Stefan
P.S.: I called yesterday afternoon (6/9/93), and left
a phone number where I can be reached, but it is
easier to get in touch with me through e-mail.
