Yesterday afternoon I spoke with David Rho (rho@mit.edu, x-2737) of EECS.
David called because he was interested in getting more information
on printing and print serving. Below is a summary of our conversation.
EECS has been offered two HP printers. They currently have four LN03s.
David hasn't entirely decided how he'd like to handle printer deployment.
He seemed interested in,
- deploying one HP printer to Don Troxel's area
- deploying one HP printer to cluster in 38-344
- running their own print servers for the HPs so that they
can manage the queues
- keeping at least 2 LN03s, using workstations as
print servers
At this point in time they want to think about things a little more.
Construction is scheduled for their area this summer. This may impact
their decision on where the printers will be deployed. They're interested
in giving this some thought and getting back to us later.
