Subject: 5ESS - Network Trouble
Date: Tue, 24 Apr 90 13:52:37 EDT

Late yesterday afternoon the Institute began to experience a problem on
5ESS trunks which support inbound telephone calls (voice and dialup data).
While the problem did not affect voice calls, it did affect inbound data
calls. A caller would drop data or the call itself. Approximately 50%
of the trunks were affected. The trouble was isolated and referred to New
England Telephone Co. New England thought they had the problem resolved last
evening, however, the problem still existed at 8:00AM this morning and
after further effort the trouble was finally cleared at 9:00AM.
