Dear Colleagues,

Please be aware that construction activities at the Stata Center will increase for four to five weeks beginning the week of July 23. The work being done is to correct accelerated aging of the brick exterior of the building due to water intrusion into the brick and mortar.

Truck deliveries of precast concrete panels will occur on the south side of Stata in the vicinity of the Compton Stairs and Alumni Pool. Between July 23 and the end of August, a total of four to six trailer loads are scheduled to be delivered, unloaded and temporarily stored in the area while the panels are being installed. To accommodate the deliveries, the new bollards at Building 26 will be removed temporarily. Once unloaded, the truck will continue through to Ames Street to exit the property. Facilities personnel will escort the truck, remove the bollards and immediately reposition them after the passage of the truck.

Until the end of August, there will be significant construction activity in this area. Those traveling in the vicinity of the Stata Center and Building 26 are encouraged to pay close attention to the MIT Police details who will be directing construction and pedestrian traffic.

Regards,
Ruth
