Reason: 
We request a domestic water shutdown from 7 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 for AJ Welch (Paul McManus 617-254-7550) to cut out and cap W71's old fire protection water feed 8" isolation valve off the city's 8" water main on Amherst St. West. The work will be performed in the Westgate lot. MIT plumbing is requested to arrive on-site by 6:30 AM and begin securing the bldgs water system at the meter at 7 AM whilst the city water department begins securing the water from the street. When the shutdown is complete MIT Plumbing will check bldg restroom plumbing fixtures for proper operation. This is being done as part of the W71 life-safety upgrades project by Shawmut Construction (Tom Ploude 781-983-3850). Keith Diggans 4-6174 is the MIT project manager.

Effect: 
Loss of domestic hot and cold water for the duration of the shutdown.
