athena "crl" printer has damaged fuser roller

Hi,
this morning it seems the "crl" printer has two major grooves or gobs
of adhered toner on the fuser roller. The printouts appear with a grey
smear down the middle of the page.
and the printer has just developed an "A" on its LED readout.
The printer is in 9-550.
