My research group (the Planetary Astronomy division of EAPS) may be getting
some data from a colleague on Exabyte tape formatted on a 5Gb drive.
We have a 2 Gb Exabyte drive, but that won't be able to read these tapes.
Therefore we are looking to see if we can borrow the use of a 5Gb Exabyte
drive from someone else around MIT. Two different people suggested that
Athena has several 5Gb Exabytes, though almost certainly in near constant
use. One also suggested that hotline might know of other such drives
owned by other people elsewhere on campus. So, do you have any suggestions
for where I might find a 5Gb Exabyte drive that my group could try to
borrow time on? WE don't need to borrow the drive itself; we just want
to copy files off the data tapes we are anticipating. We would greatly
appreciate any help.
