User ranga came in to the consultant's office this afternoon,
concerned that his account had been broken into. He DID NOT receive
any messages saying that someone was attempting to change is finger
information. Instead, he noticed the following three things:
1. A friend say that "finger" told him that user ranga was logged in
on Monday evening, when in fact ranga was not.
2. When ranga did eventually log in, mail had been incorporated into
his account that ranga says he did not incorporate himself.
3. Lastlog shows that ranga logged in yesterday, when in fact he did
not.
I toldi him to change his password immediately and to keep a careful
watch over his account, to see whether anything else occurred. He
asked me whether I could send you a note.
