I am having sporadic problems using the command
emacs <filename> &
What happens is that the window will appear, but never opens so that I can
edit the file. It just stays blank. I have waited for a few minutes (not
more than 5), but the window just stays blank; then I just hit Ctrl-x
Ctrl-c and try the emacs command again.
