Hello, my name is Mat Hostetter; I am the new system manager at ZBT.
Please send any hardware questions/comments about our cluster to me.
Now on to the fun stuff...

Over the summer we have accumulated some hardware problems, and
instead of asking you to make several trips to fix each one
individually (which would be unnecessary, as the cluster was uncrowded
during the summer) I waited until now to let you know.

We have two problems:

1) Two of our keyboards quit working. One of them just sends wrong
keys (a null when you press shift, for example) and the other seems to
continually spew stuff. As soon as you plug in the second keyboard
all of its LED's go on. Hmmm.

2) The hard drive on mrfreeze is really ailing. fsck was unable to
help, so we ran rqbads. It found several hundred errors and gave up.
It looks pretty grim.

While there is no _great_ hurry to fix these, we would be extremely
grateful if we could have a fully functional cluster for rush week.
BTW, we are also going to get upgraded to system 7.0 sometime so
perhaps all of this can be accomplished at once. I believe dkk is the
one who will upgrade us to 7.0, so perhaps you could contact him and
see if he can help us with our hardware as well.

Thanks a lot! Your help is really appreciated!

-Mat

P.S. Or maybe you could just replace mrfreeze with a 3100. :-)
