I submitted a report on the disk drive on w20-575-22 last
Monday. Apparently the software deletes the sender's machine from the
mail message before putting the message in discuss. (Sorry. This
doesn't seem to be a feature but that's another issue.) Since I got a
couple complaints, I promised to come back, try to reproduce the
problem, and send a more detailed report.

Anyway, I came back and tried another disk. The one that
didn't work before was a dos disk (which I was able to read on another
machine). It was a friend's disk I had since returned, and all I
could find to test the drive with was a tar disk. tar xvf /dev/rfd0
generates the error:

tar: /dev/rfd0: No such device or address

If I recall correctly, the problem I had had with the DOS disk was
also a no device error. The light on the disk drive didn't come on
either time. I also tried the tar disk on another machine
successfully. This time I noticed that something inside the disk
drive rattles slightly when you put the lever down.

I hope this report is sufficient. If not, send me email, and
I will deal with it when I have time, which will not be immediately.
This is a minor nuisance since I don't think I own any 5 1/4" disks.
Please don't call me and wake me up again. Thanks.
