What I did to fix the machine was edit the /etc/athena/login/config file
and /etc/ttys (because he edited that).

However, to re-install the machine will take a special boot image, which
I built at one time, but have no clue if it is still around, and then
you have to copy the X server, edit ttys, get a special kernel, and edit
/etc/athena/login/config because 7.4 does not understand that hardware.

Sorry, I wish I could be more specific, but even though I could probably
figure out what was wrong with the ttys and config file, and which X
server to copy, it will be of little help without the special kernels,
and I do not know where they are off-hand. I know the options that they
were built with and fixed the 7.5 sources to accomodate his workstation,
but the boot server also needs to have a special/newer kernel to
download to his workstation. (Kim, is that kernel still around, and did
that ever become the default on the boot server since it accomodates all
our existing hardware as well as Fricke's machine?)
