--------
You asked an OLC question about printing on Linus.
I'm not sure what happened, but apparently no printing has worked on
Linus since 6:48pm this evening. The log files, spool directory and
such have not changed since then. You'll probably need to print your
files again, but it's best to check at the dispatch desk first, if
that's not too much trouble. (Did you really expect to get through
Friday the 13th without anything going wrong?)
I think they're open Saturdays, still, so you may not have to wait
until Monday.
There's another printer right near you, in "Next House" (500 Mem Dr.).
The name is "dufus". It seems to be out of commission at the moment,
so you should check before printing anything there. Also, I'm not
sure who pays for their toner (Athena or the dorm), so you may run
into trouble there. (I'm also not sure how you'd get access.) If
you're willing to come farther into campus, there are 7 printers on
the 5th floor of W20 (the Stratton Student Center). The three
together at one end of the cluster are Ajax, Ceres and Python. The
other four, scattered about the cluster a bit, are w20-east1,
w20-east-2, w20-east-3 and (you guessed it) w20-east-4.
Thanks for bringing this problem to our attention.
I'll mark your question "done" in olc. If I haven't answered your
question fully, or if you have any more questions, please use olc
again. You may also want to keep in mind that problems with Athena
hardware or systems software (such as printers and printservers)
should be brought to the attention of the Hardware Hotline. You can
call the hotline at x3-1410 or send mail to "hotline". I'm cc'ing
this message there so they know about the problem.
Thanks for using OLC, and have a good weekend,
