'atalanta' hung today around noon, we rebooted it manually, then it
hung again around 1pm. We ran diags on it, and as usual these revealed
no problem with the system. We decided to replace the system unit
(essentially, making a new 'atalanta'). As of a few minutes ago,
this new atalanta is in service.
So, 'atalanta' was unavailable from about noon until about 6:30pm.
During this time, we found:
1) mycroft wasn't working (fixed, with a HUP to inetd)
2) the installation instructions for setting up an nfsxafs
translator are good
Also, the new atalanta has 16Mb of memory, a 310 internal disk
configured with a 150Mb afs cache, so hopefully the performance will
be better.
Thanks to Brian for finding the replacement system unit [the old
'seuss', for those who care], and to Richard for assistance on some
key points.
