project name: casetracker 1.5
project leader: barbara goguen, oliver thomas
report date: November 15, 2001

accomplishments past period:
- began having bi-weekly meetings facilitated by esther yanow
- inventoried existing documentation and reviewed contents
- developed test plan, identified testers, and completed testing and
bug fixes to new web interface; this interface currently matches
existing web interface functionality
- began collecting design ideas for limited feature enhancements to
be added to new web interface
- began planning for moving new web interface from development
machine to test machine and then on to production
- began planning for upgrade of production machine to oracle 8.x.
will need to upgrade client machines using desktop interface.
requested oracle login auditing be turned on to help determine all
users of desktop interface who will need to be upgraded
- compiled list of casetracker category owners to better understand
stakeholders in policy decisions
- began defining terms such as "owner", "group" and "consultant"
- began inventorying database to understand rights each
"owner/group/consultant" has to the data within that field
- raised concerns to database services group around intermittent
performance slow downs and database tables filling up

goals for coming period:
- continue to meet with regularity and to follow up on assigned tasks
- continue meeting around policy issues and draft some initial
casetracker rules of use to facilitate a discussion with a broader
audience
- continue to plan for iap as the time to upgrade production machine
to oracle 8.1.7
- conduct design discussions to clarify design issues of limited
additional features to add to the new web client
- follow-up with east about moving some casetracker work into their workspace

issues:
- we may need to revisit our service expectations with those in
database services and in W91 server operations
- we may need to rethink how we might effectively distribute
administrative functions to ensure that we minimize technical
problems and policy violations that then require cleanup

key learning:
- having someone focused on facilitating meetings and keeping us on
track is incredibly valuable. thank you, esther!

team dynamics:
- all is well
