Accomplishments for the past period:
- met with BLT to review new services in prep for rollout
- met with the Help Desk to review new services in prep for rollout
- held preliminary discussion of VPN's with Jeff Schiller as possible
method for securing IPM native clients
- assigned automated processing of LPR print files to Dan Cogswell
- continued working with operators on documentation
- started prep work for the operator training
submittal process, and to clarify the new service offerings
- drafted a quick IPM installation sheet
- opened problem report with IBM regarding duplex postscript SAP issue;
they've acknowledged a problem with the postscript transformer
- drafted letter to users of EP1 (HP8100) to prep them for conversion
of EP1 from APS to IPM
Goals for the coming period:
- work with ASST to ensure a smooth transition to production mode (move
pillage to E40, backups, op docs, etc.) (carryover)
- test automated processing of LPR print files and put in production
- review and approve accounting software written by IBM
- further revise WBS
- work with ASST to implement web page restriction software (carryover)
- facilitate web interface look and feel redesign (carryover)
- complete documentation and training for operators
- get SAP postscript completely working
- install Postscript transform code patch if available
- get customized source code, documentation, etc. from IBM
- move EP1 to IPM from Athena Print Services
- refine operator documentation for BLT
- get Admissions printing
- work with EAST on transition
- see what we can do to influence changing Netscape config defaults
for MIT's distribution of same (carryover)
- complete the Financial Model (carryover)
- continue customer discussions wrt IPM rollout & network based
mainframe printing (ongoing)
Issues:
We're a little behind on our schedule but still okay given our
customers' schedules. Project leader was out for two weeks of
vacation. One team member was significantly pulled into other
work. A key member of ASST was out for two weeks due to an injury
which has delayed the ASST transition tasks.
