Project Name:    Enterprise Backup System
Project Leader:  Grant Young
Report Date:     June 6, 2001
URL:             http://windsurf.mit.edu/ebs

Issues:

* Setting up the infrastructure for online backups is taking longer that
expected due to disk space and other resource limitations.

Accomplishments Past Period:

* Continued maintence and operation of the E40 systems.

* Created draft consolidated reports for daily backup success and
failure. One set for general backups and another for the SAP online backups.

* Started reconfiguration of the SAN in W91 to support NetBackup.

Goals for the Coming Period

* Finish re-configuring SAN in W91 to support Netbackup. In particular
moving the tape drives on the Tape Library onto the SAN

* Installing the NetBackup software and activating the W91 Master Server.

* Rolling out online backups fully on at least one host in E40.

* Putting the draft backup reports on the web.

* Investigate using a database to facilitate reporting.

* Updating the Team's web pages.

Team Dynamics:

* Good.

Lessons Learned:

* Rome wasn't built in a day.
