Project Name: Enterprise Backup System
Project Leader: Rachel Sage
Report Date: November 30, 2000
URL: http://windsurf.mit.edu/ebs

Issues:

* The current project lead, Rachel Sage, is leaving IS and Grant Young,
a current member EBS team member, will be taking over as project lead as
of December 1.

* The month of November has mostly been spent on two items; tracking
down a major tape handling bug within the NetBackup product and
adjusting to the departure of the project lead.

In particular, the tape handling bug caused us to miss a number of
backups in a row. We've had to stop progress in other areas of the
project in order to fix the problem and regain enough confidence in
the product to move forward again.

* We are continuing to run up against the SAP 4.6c upgrade with respect
to resource and system availability.

Accomplishments Past Period:
* Created work around for major tape handling bug.
* Appointed new project lead
* Transferred project plan, knowledge, and responsibilities to the new
  project lead.

Goals for the Coming Period

* Break in new project lead.
* Determine requirements and dates for rollout of online db backups
  in E40.
* Determine requirements for rollouts in W91.

Team Dynamics:

* Obviously, the team is going to need some time to adjust to the
change in project leadership and the reduction in project resources.
