The FARNET recommendations also stated a strong desire on the part of the
mid-levels for stability of interconnection services (be they backbone or
CIX/FIX models). The fact is, most of the mid-levels are torn between
a desire to have a choice a desire to have things work. While these are
certainly not orthogonal, having multiple providers does imply a transition
and the FARNET recommendations contained a plea that a lot of attention be
paid to stability during the transition.
I'm not disagreeming with you Gordon, just pointing out that the mid-levels
feel a degree of un-ease about several issues - a single backbone provider
being only one of them.
Perhaps Laura needs to post a synopsis of EACH of the FARNET recommendations,
so that people get the overall picture?
