As a clarification to Dave Hugh's comments on the Westnet meeting last week,
I did indeed take issue with some the "facts" in Bill's presentation.
I did not, however, go down the list and try to refute the many assertions -
Each individual is entitled to interpret events as they see fit. What Dave
did not report, is that I stated that all actions taken by the Merit/IBM/
MCI joint study partnership (from which ANS evolved) were done in
accordance with existing Federal procurement practices, and are in theo
public record.
I do indeed object to the assertion that anything done by ANS or its
forerunners was either intentionally or unintentionally underhanded.
For the record - getting back to the subject at hand - ANS is an American
company, investing American dollars into the building of an American network
infrastructure, using American suppliers and technology.
As I also stated many times last week, ANS is fully in support of
an open and active competitive environment for high performance network
services.
