Since all good things do come to an end, I will be leaving the U.S
Congress, Office Of Technology Assessment by February 28, 1992. The total
immersion in figuring out the implications of NREN has certainly been an
unforgetable experience. It has convinced me that the shaping of the
future of this industry is tremendously important. I'd like to continue
to be involved in the development of that future. Since I believe that
the members of this list represent a great many concerns that I would be
proud to work for, I seek responses from those who may have positions
that would match my background, AND, JUST AS IMPORTANT, suggestions of
people to contact for advice and further networking suggestions on
marketing my skills.
Since my doctorate is in Russian History, one area that I am exploring is
a focus on telecom and computers in that part of the world. Another area
is an advocacy role for K-12 networking - including marketing,
administration, writing, publishing and training in k-12 networking
programs. Suggestions of fresh combinations are welcome.
From 1983 to last year I was a technical writer. 1983 to 1985 hardware -
Tempest terminals and pc clones. 1985 to 1987 EIES 2.0 development and
implementation. From 1987 until it closed last year, I was the only
technical writer and science editor that the John von Neumann National
Supercomputer Center ever had. I loved (and stll do) the stimulation of
the high performance computing environment! I also have a background in
computer conferencing that goes back to EIES in June of 1980. The Gartner
Group published my market analysis of CMC in November 1987 and John
Quarterman later cited it somewhat extensively in the Matrix. I am
flexible and have no geographic limitations.
Please respond NOT to this list, but by private email, to cook@tmn.com.
