ANTERIOR TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCES "RADIOMAIL" -- WIRELESS ELECTRONIC MAIL

MENLO PARK, CALIF. (OCT. 8) - "RadioMail", a new service extending
the reach of electronic mail to pocket pagers and portable computers
equipped with radio modems was unveiled today by Anterior Technology.

"A long-time limiting factor of electronic mail and information
services has been their attachment to stationary hardware," stated
Geoffrey S. Goodfellow, President and CEO of Anterior Technology.
"The utility of electronic mail and information is greatly enhanced
when it is available anywhere and anytime, thereby eliminating the
inherent `information float'."

The RadioMail gateway service interconnects electronic mail systems
and information services with one-way paging and two-way data radio
networks nationwide. Electronic mail arriving at the RadioMail
gateway is reformatted and routed to the appropriate radio carrier for
transmission. Two-way data radio networks can exchange messages with
electronic mail systems through the RadioMail gateway.

The RadioMail gateway service operates over both standard dial-up and
wide area network services. The service communicates with many
electronic mail networks, including the worldwide TCP/IP Internet and
UUCP/USENET, LAN mail systems such as cc:Mail, and public access mail
systems like ATTMail.

To reach a RadioMail subscriber, a correspondent may send a message
from their native electronic mail environment to a personalized
RadioMail address. Alternatively, the subscriber's regular "wired"
electronic mail address may automatically forward messages to
Anterior's RadioMail gateway for selective forwarding to a pager or
portable computer equipped with a radio modem.

Anterior has developed and tested one-way RadioMail services in
California on Pac*Tel Paging and nationwide on the SkyTel and CUE
paging networks. Through a connection to the National Dispatch
Center, one-way RadioMail service is available in 170 local markets.

One-way RadioMail delivery of text messages from electronic mail
networks to pagers nationwide is available now. Two-way RadioMail
services providing transparent communication between wired electronic
mail systems and two-way data radio networks will be available in the
first quarter of 1992.

Anterior is working with hardware and software vendors to produce
integrated RadioMail service packages. The first commercial package
to integrate with RadioMail is PSILink from Performance Systems
International in Reston, VA, and Poqet Computer in Santa Clara, CA.

Anterior Technology, located in Menlo Park, California, is a
communications services company, and has been providing electronic
mail and information services since 1988. In addition to RadioMail,
Anterior offers turnkey communication services for Internet, UUCP, and
cc:Mail sites.
