Several months ago, ANS initiated private discussions with the
CIX on interconnectivity. Additional discussions continued at
the INET meeting in Copenhagen, in Troy NY, at the Montana
NSF/FARNET workshop, and yesterday in Elmsford NY.
Yesterday's meeting in Elmsford was "extremely positive"
(a consensus of those attending), and covered all aspects of
T1 interconnection. The issues, as you may know, are highly
complex and are not limited to routing or financing.
All parties to these discussions are dealing sincerely, and are
committed to interconnectivity among commercial and academic
internet providers. ANS and the CIX leaders are all committed to
work on these issues until we make this a reality.
