I'd be curious whether this is a shared or dedicated 10BaseT interface
you're offering, and whether you'd expect this to be terminated in
my house by a hub (to other machines), router, or single host (if it
matters, again this is curiousity). Also, when you say "house", how
do you mean to distinguish "residential service" from SOHO or
distributed enterprise? If I could seriously set up a LAN over your
service, you're talking about a service that undercuts most
multi-megabit offerings by two orders of magnitude; who wouldn't be
interested?
The price is astonishingly low, and I'd bite; if you're looking for
willingness-to-pay feedback, I'd pay 3-6x your rate for 10Mbps (most
providers in my area charge between $100-200/month for SLIP/14.4).
I'm not convinced the penetration couldn't push beyond the 3-5% mentioned
in earlier postings, especially if you have a quality help desk.
Ethernet is the next generation's RS232; it's inexpensive,
marginally more difficult to configure (single host) than SLIP/PPP
on a MAC.
