Several people have posted anecdotal evidence that in (some) large metro
areas some companies are 'planning' to compete with local TELCOs. None of
that indicates to me that "things are proceeding at a good clip". I don't
believe any of the actual regulatory or local policy implementation work
has been done.
It could be like cellualr phones, and mushroom. Or it could be like ISDN
and take forever from announcement to availability.
