I have missed much of this discussion so this may not be new. The public
key of public-private key pair, as in RSA crypto, has the following
desirable properties when considered as a name:
It has negligible probability of collision.
It needs no central name control.
I can claim to be you but I can't thereby read your mail, nor forge your
signature.
It has absolutly no mnemonic value.
It is long and does not fit well in the head, but the first 50 bits or so
(10 characters) have negligible probability of collision for most purposes.
