I agree. But in spite of the fact that the Constitution specifically
prevents states from regulating interstate commerce, states not only
require you to get a new driver's license when you establish residency
but make you surrender your old one (by my definition, this is not within
the states' rights).
Since ANSI represents the authority of the US via the State Department, I
think that I would approach this by applying to ANSI to be a registration
authority for some domain, and once that has happened and been approved
without challenge, no one could take that away.
I don't think this is being paranoid...just cautious.
