It is, at least, a medical hoax since I can think of 1) no physiologic 
mechanism by which ingested oxygen can be made to increase blood oxygen 
and 2) no physical mechanism by which gasseous oxygen could be kept in 
solution at atmospheric pressure.

Reminds me of the time that a person called the Poison Control Center 
after having swallowed a small amount of hydrogen peroxide which they 
were gargling and was told by the person on phone duty that it was no 
problem: "hydrogen peroxide is just water with an extra oxygen."
