Pardon my ignorance . . . as a relative newcomer to this list, it would be
uselful to know (via signature line) what the credentials are of the people
discussing these important subjects. Participant's affiliations are not
always clear by the header info. Since we are a mix of academic and
commercial folks, it would be helpful to know the angle from which comments
are made.
For example, my e-mail has been jammed with comment after comment from
Joseph Stroup. Mr. Stroup, you may be a well-known authority on these
subjects or simply an impassioned on-looker. I am chagrined that I don't
know if I should. The nature of mailing lists means we jump in
mid-conversation without knowing fully to whom we are speaking. Mailing
list discussions can be fragmented in the best of times . . . can we make
it easier on each other with a reference to our affiliation?
