After reading James Gleick's article in the New York Times Magazine
on Sunday, May 1st, 1994, I was inspired. Mr. Gleick educated the
the great unwashed by noting that the "Information Superhighway"
is actually called the "Infobahn" or the "I-way" by people-in-the-know
(or at least by those of us who like to think they bathe.)
In keeping with this very 90's downsizing trend, I'd like to lay claim
to coining an even shorter term for the Net.
<drumroll please>
The new name for the Information Supercalifragilisticexbealidocious
Highway is the:
"I"
That's it, just I. Or, if you speak with an accent, *I*. Yes, I
think that this has a lot going for it: easier to type, has mystical
connotations (the ego for the planet, the "I" in Gaia), and last but not
least, it will save oodles in disk space (an oodle is approximately n meg).
Of course, I will probably have to start using "I (c) Copyright 1994
Michael Bauer, All Rights Reserved" with the way things are going, but
I'll cross that bridge (or dot that i) when I come to it.

But seriously, if you want to know good advertising, THAT article, was
good advertising. And cheap. Probably got paid to promote his service!!
