Actually, Sesquinet is managed by Rice University. I am just chairman of the
technical subcommittee. My boss, Tony Gorry, is chairman of the steering
committee.
Medical imaging is only part of the motivation for the private fiber between
Rice and BCM. The main motivation is to provide high speed access to the
Connection Machine and other similiar resources at Rice to researchers at
BCM. As an addtional benefit, BCM will get T3 access to the T3 ANSnet.
