   But keeping your credentials on a smartcard is only as useful as the 
   ubiquity of smartcards and smartcard enabled workstations.  This is 
   another 'dongle' -- it represents physical identity.  But, it means 
   everyone on-line will need one.  Which hardware manufacturer should I 
   invest in, do you think?

Rob, you know, sometimes you can be very silly[1].  We manage to have
dozens and dozens of Ethernet card vendors, and we can keep track of
who is who, and there's no Ethernet address conflict, and they all
interoperate and they're getting real, real cheap (less than the cost
of a BAD motel room) and for every vendor who goes out of business,
two new ones crop up.

Now, which Ethernet hardware manufacturer should I invest in, do you think??
