RSA is the U.S. patent holder for a number of encryption patents that cover
most of the public key encryption space.

PGP is a freeware program writting by Phil Zimmerman. RSA claims that use
of PGP in the U.S. infringes on their patents.

RSA provides a free reference implementation of their toolkit (RSAREF)
which is licensed free of charge for personal use, and is very willing
to work out licensing deals with other companies (and in fact has with
very many people). (ftp to rsa.com)

RSA is very much opposed to Clipper/Capstone/Skipjack and Jim Bidzos has
testified before Congressional panels against it.
