Fine, get the senior managers involved in IETF. But, if they can't recognize a
bozo in the office, their chances of doing so in the field are somewhat less
than you might hope for. All the `bozos' I know tend to behave themselves when
the boss is around. IETF may just have to put up with the bozos becuase to do
otherwise is to invite loud cries of foul when certain people are excluded. And
someone who is a bozo to her (his) boss may not be a bozo to IETF, especially
when it comes to the gnomes and gurus the group needs to function.
One way to minimize the negative influence of *any* group is to make sure that
the internal workings of the organization are such that it is impossible for
minorities to run the show. If the competent people become a minority, perhaps
it is time to shut the group down and start again.
