When I posted my querry over the weekend about a policy change in NAP
connections, I said quite clearly that the information was ***THIRD*** hand and
therefore of **uncertain** validity. I assumed (unwisely it seems) it would be
very easy to get a response that would confirm or deny what someone thought they
heard from the person who attended.
I have now managed to reach the person who actually attended the FNCAC meeting.
He tells me there was a breakdown in communication and that the NAP policy is
apparently unchanged.
He faxed me 6 slides that steve handed out and LO there is even a question mark
in the connection line between the Washington DC NAP and vBNS..
A piece of information that is new to me says there is a "high-bandwidth
connections program" announcement being written for release later this year.
>From a remark on another slide it looks as though NSF may be planning to fund
college and university direct attachments to the vBNS as it has to the current
network for quite a few years. Anyone have any light to shed on this?
