Our Student Newspaper has a section called "News From the Weird". I am
getting the feeling that this thread (and a couple parallel threads)
belong in that section.
Agreed; Al Gore and NSF have the goal to comercialize the "Internet".
Part of that process is the NSF funded NAPs and the Routing Arbitrater.
Since EVERY approved (by NSF) Network Service Provider must connect
to all three of the primary NAPs, I don't need CIX at all! If a
business, government agency or school chooses to use a network supplier
that is not a real NSP, they have a problem. How many of you plan
universal NAP connectivity?
Agreed also; The RA is SUPPOSED to settle all the routing rules for
the NAPs and the connected NSPs.
Doesn't this settle most of the discussion on the referenced
threads? If not, why not?
OK, Maybe NSF and Gore will loose all control over the situation. I
suspect if that happens, the Congress will get involved and we will see
some new laws that will cause all of us pain. Maybe we should quite
fighting among ourselves, figure out how to implement the NSF plan and
keep the Feds as far away from our business as possible.
