And the access is transparent: Your users won't even know that
they are not directly (IP-)connected to the Internet. Most client
and server programs run on Unix hosts. There are now EXPERIMENTAL
telnet, ftp, and finger clients for Winsock. (Please note well
the big-lettered EXPERIMENTAL!) A more elaborate way for running
WinMosaic over CERN's httpd and SOCKS is also available. I also
understand that the next version of MacMosaic will contain SOCKS
support.

It is probably easier to remmeber the host as ftp.nec.com. All
SOCKS related files are in directory /pub/security/socks.cstc.
Please retrieve and read FILES first, which contains brief
descriptions of files in that directory.
