I seem to be a little bit longitudinally challenged ("lost") so could
someone please explain what 'Socks' and 'Term' are and why there is
an issue? I assume it has nothing to do with Clinton's cat.

Is this something similar to 'Screen' - that is a program that allows a
user at a Unix terminal to run as many as 9 simultaneous terminal
sessions at the same terminal, by creating virtual terminals on the
particular session? (The unix site I use limits Screen to 2 sessions.)
